Smart Works, Snowballs and St Paul’s - how Barques supports Birmingham’s charities
Birmingham is full of wonderful charities and organisations that give back to the community, and at Barques, we always seek to offer our support wherever we can.
Our managing director, Jilly Cosgrove, has been instrumental in promoting a range of charitable causes, including Property for Kids (PFK) and Second City Charity Pro Am.
Most recently, we entertained colleagues and clients at the Smart Works Birmingham’s fashion sale, which raises money to help women seeking employment that will ultimately change their lives. We’ve supported the event for several years and Jilly has had a long association with the charity as a former trustee.
We are also providing pro bono marketing to St Paul’s Church in the Jewellery Quarter, through the conception and delivery of its ‘Raise the Roof’ campaign, which aims to raise £660,000 for critical repairs.
Last month we organised a fundraising dinner at the training restaurant at University College Birmingham, with 80 in attendance. It included a number of artworks donated by local artists as well as items donated by businesses such as Artisan Alchemy, Mosaic, Grain & Glass, The Chocolate Quarter, and Fei Liu Fine Jewellery, which were auctioned off.
Jilly is also chairman of PFK, a local charity that helps disadvantaged children across the West Midlands. We help organise a variety of annual events for PFK, including the summer boules tournament, the BRENDAs, and the sold-out Snowball, happening this month, where the region’s property professionals donate presents to disadvantaged children.
Emma Cosgrove of Barques, who also sits on the PFK committee, said: “We’re proud to work with such incredible organisations that do good across the region. And, having been involved in organising events for St Paul’s Church, PFK, and Smart Works, it’s clear how many wonderful people want to give back too by getting involved.”
